4 you so much the more, inasmuch as we owe to your sympathy that the thought became flesh, that our plan of an International Unitarian Conference has been realised, and that we can hold it to the joy of all of us. A National Unitarian Conference in Hungary! Truly, this fact is almost as great and significant an event for us as the Millennial Jubilee of our country. It may be that many will regard it rather extraordi­nary that we, of all others, should think of holding an international religious conference on the occasion of our national festival here in the Capital, where our number compared with the membership of other denominations is an imperceptible minority, just as in the country at large we have neither the importance nor the authority which the others possess; at any rate, we cannot boast of the great spread of our religion abroad, since as yet in name we are represented only in Great Britain and America. But I do believe and this belief of mine gives me great joy that if with our International Unitarian Con­ference we can increase the glory of the Millennial Jubilee; with this act, we fulfil a patriotic duty. And who would doubt, that if we can gain only one friend to our country and to our nation with our Confe­rence ; if they who honoured us with their visit are convinced personally of the strength, power,culture and endeavours of our country and nation, and they will be the interpreters of all of these in their own countries, do we not work by this the purpose of our Millennial
