176 perswaded several of our English friends to participate. At the same time I must thank also to our old friend Mr. John Fretwell who wrote articles to the English and American papers and gave advise how to make the journey most easily. But the warmest thanks arc due to those English and American friends, fourteen alltoghther, who came here personally. We pay due respect to them becouse they made the greatest sacrifice. It is their merit that our gathering became a really International Unitariau Conference ; they enabled us to enter a new page into the annals of our Church to which there are very few equal in grandure. This will inspire, encourage and animate our successors from generation to generation for Unitarianism, our holy religion and its triumph. Yes indeed, becouse the purpose of this Conference, was the promotion of Unitarianism. It is this which is able to join together with the closest ties of sympathy and brotherly feeling sons of so distant countries like England, America and Hungary. I hope, therefore, that I shall not take away from the personal merits of our English and American friends if I express my conviction that coming to us to partake in this Conference, they made service to a cause which is of just the same close interest to them as it is to us. Besides lot me hope that they found some recompence for their trauble and sacrifice in that kind reception which we wished to give them, our aim being to make them feel themselves quite at home in our midst. Let us hope that their sojourn here was not quite useless since they got to know our beautiful capital, and see the products of the culture of our country. Accept therefore my renewed thanks in the name of the Committee cand of our whole Church. God may lead you back safely to your sweet home. Pray take with you our most cordial greeting to our beloved brethren
