For the maintenance of our colleges and for the support of our poorer ministers and Churches, we may thank our fellow-worshipers, who always were ready to help us. Such as these, made it possible for our poorer young men to complete their studies and education. But speaking about our colleges, I think, I ought to say something of their trials which from time to time they have undergone. After our College at Kolozsvár, which was foun­ded by John Sigismond, had been taken away, it cost us a great deal of trouble and sacrifice to build the present one at the end of the last century ; we could as­sure its existence during the absolute era (1850—60.) only by having got some recent donations from our fellow­­believers and Churches. This is the only Principal-Col­lege we have to-day. But to supply this alone with sufficient professors and to arrange it according^ to the claims of the present age, is beyond our power and consequently to all requirements we can only answer by availing ourselves of the government-aid. The maintenance of our highshool at Sz.-Keresztur as well as its enlargement and its supply with more professors, demands of us no small sum of money, be­cause, it has not been assisted as yet by the government. As for the College at Torda, we gave permission to the Governement to keep in our building an indusctrial school. We continue the teaching of classics. The term of the contract is drawing nigh. A new contract will have to be made. In these three Colleges, our students have gained their scientific education and accomplishments, and
