The Hungarian Student, 1958 (3. évfolyam, 1-2. szám)
1958-10-01 / 1. szám
The seventh chapter contains the appendix with data on Hungary and a chronology of events starting with the German occupation of Hungary on March 19, 1944. As the present review indicates, the editor has attempted to cover a very wide area. This might be the reason for the disproportion between some chapters, for some missing geographical data to accompany the historical facts, for the omission of maps that are very necessary and for the lack of at least a short bibliography from which interested readers might choose books for further reading. We were disturbed by the fact that throughout the book the use of accents on Hungarian names and words is inconsistent, and that several misprints escaped the attention of the proof-reader. Unfortunately, the chronology also contains some events of little significant for the last fifteen years of Hungarian history. We are certain that this book will serve the reader well and help the Hungarian people which could not, by its own efforts and must therefore obtain freedom understanding and assistance extended to it by the nations of the world.
