Barát means one friend, while baráiOK means two or more friends. As it can be seen, the plural sign of k is joined to the name-words with the addition of another letter which may stand for any one of the vowel sounds. There is a rule which regulates the selection of these vowel sounds, but the best thing is to try and depend on your ear in making your selections. Try to form the plural forms of the name-words you have learned, and see how you succeed in your selections. It is an excellent way to test your sound sense, or your sense of sound harmony.
