For 140 students from St. John’s and other qualified colleges, a full semester will in­clude 12 to 15 credits in courses such as History of Architecture, Arts in Europe, Comparative Law and Judicial Process, Economic History of East Central Europe, Modern Euorpean Literature, and the Catholic Church Experience in Europe. In addition to classroom study, the “College Europa” semester will feature three weeks of travel throughout Hungary, Austria, Italy, and Greece. Classes will be in English, although students will be encouraged to learn some Hungarian. The faculty for the program comes from the three top universities in Hungary and, according to a St. John’s University spokesman, “the program is designed to help foster a greater understanding of the differences and the similarities between the world’s two major adversarial systems and their people”.
