Box 2203 Union, New Jersey 07083 Telephone: 201-964-8464 TO ALL HUNGARIAN AMERICANS: This non-profit organization was instrumental in sponsoring the formation of the UNITED HUNGARIANAMERICAN COMMITTEE FOR THE RESTORATION OF THE STATUE OF LIBERTY-ELLIS ISLAND. More than 500 Hungarian clubs, churches, and organizations have been invited to participate in this fundraising effort on behalf of the Hungarian community in the United States and many of them have responded favorably. Some of them have already submitted their contributions and one small club alone, for example, has collected from among its membership and sent in $2,000, other organizations donated less. These organizations’ contributions were not sent directly to us, but to the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, P.O. Box 4128, New York, N.Y. 10163. We ask the members of the Hungarian Eighth Tribe Foundation, the readers of the Eighth Hungarian Tribe magazine, also those churches and societies, who would like to join us in this combined effort, to send their donations to the HETF’s address. Make checks payable to Hungarian Eighth Tribe Foundation—Statue of Liberty- Ellis Island Fund. The names and contributions will be forwarded to the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation. It will also be published in the Eighth Hungarian Tribe magazine. If it is your wish not to join us, but still want to contribute, send your donation to the SL-EIF’s New York address. ****** OUR SECOND PROJECT: AN ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE HUNGARIAN BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL COMMUNITIES IN AMERICA Now, in connection with this campaign that is nationwide in scope, research work has begun in preparation for the publishing of a special commemorative publication in which the historical backgrounds of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the American Museum of Immigration will be featured. This souvenir publication is scheduled to be ready for release in time for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the erection of the Statue of Liberty on July 4th, 1986, and arrangements are being made to have it on display for sale at the Statue of Liberty itself, Battery Park, Liberty Park, and other points of sale not only throughout the Metropolitan New York area, but also throughout the country. A distribution of more than 100,000 copies is projected for the first printing run. The production and introduction of this publication can only be made possible by tax-deductible contributions, in the form of advertising, from Hungarian businesses and professional people. Advertising rates are available upon request. We also accept other donations; you can have your churches, societies listed in the book, or make a Memorial Donation for your parents/grandparents, who first touched U.S. soil on Ellis Island. Please write to us for more information. Your contribution, in the form of advertising or donations, towards the realization of this major project is very important to the Hungarian community in America because, with the net profits we hope to derive therefrom, we plan to design, set up, and establish within the Ethnic Center that will be a feature of the restored Ellis Island a HUNGARIAN - AMERICAN HALL OF FAME that will be an ever-lasting memorial to the many men and women of Hungarian origin who have done so much to help this country to become the great bastion of freedom that it is. Your support of this endeavor will be greatly appreciated. For further information please write at your earliest convenience. Sándor E. Chomos, Paul Pulitzer Chairman of the Board President National Headquarters: P.O. Box 637, Ligonier, Pennsylvania 15658 (Tel: 412-834-0169)
