I The American-Hungarian Citizens Club of Rahway Completes Another Very Successful Year CLARK, New Jersey — The 62 year-old, American-Hungarian Citizens Club of Rahway has completed another successful year and looks forward to further growth during 1984. Originally established in 1922, the non-profit cultural, educational, and social organization is dedicated towards fostering the preservation and perpetuation of the Hungarian Heritage of its membership and supporters by means of its various activities and through the sponsorship and maintenance of a club facility open to all people of Hungarian lineage. According to Mr. Louis Ruszkay, the club’s president, the year 1983 was an eventful one in its long history. “It was highlighted by our HUNGARIAN HERITAGE DAY held on Sunday, September 18th,” he said, “and never have so many people attended, at one time, an affair sponsored by us. About 1500 cars were counted by members of our Traffic Control Committee and Auxiliary Police Officers on special duty for the occasion and, it was estimated by them, that about 3000 people were present during the course of the entire day. This surprised us all. But it does prove that, when we Hungarians get together to get a job done, we can do it!” Another development last year, was the signing of a contract with the Garden State Stucco & Brickface Company to renovate and improve the exterior of the club house facility. Work on this project is scheduled to begin on or about April 15th, 1984. Meanwhile, the club has launched a “BUILDING FUND” drive to raise money to help defray all or part of the costs of the project. The names of all donators to this BUILDING FUND will be inscribed on a bronze plaque for permanent public display in the club house. Louis Ruszkay, president of the American-Hungarian Citizens Club of Rahway, points out to Club Trustee, Louis Barta, some of the renovation work that will be done on the club house.
