PROFILES IN FOCUS LOUIS J.R. KADY and DR. ALEXANDER SZEMERE: The Co-Chairmen of the 21st Annual “Carousel Ball” When 200 members, supporters, and friends of the American- Hungarian Foundation gathered together last month at the Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, to witness the presenta­tion of the organization’s Disting­uished Service Award to two eminent women of Hungarian lineage - Mary Mochary, the Mayor of the City of Montclair and Republican candidate for the Senate of the United States and Dorothy K. Drwal, the Councilwoman of Edison - it marked the 21st year that the New Brunswick-based Foundation had sponsored a “Carousel Ball” at which such awards had been made. This year, the affair, which is held each year for the benefit of the American- Hungarian Foundation, was co­chaired by Louis J.R. Kady of Carteret and Holmdel and Dr. Alex­ander Szemere of Kendall Park. Louis J.R. Kady Louis J.R. Kady is a partner in the law firm of Harrington, Kady & Got­tlieb, with offices in Carteret and in Middletown, New Jersey. The former Carteret Municipal Prosecutor, he has also represented such agencies as the Housing Authority, the Page 14 Redevelopment Agency, the Com­munity Development Board, and the Library Board. He is also a “Pool Attorney” for the Middlesex County and Union County Public Defender Offices. A graduate of Johns Hopkins University, the Rutgers University Graduate School of Business, and the Seton Hall University Law School, Mr. Kady and his wife, Janice, reside in Holmdel with their three children. He is past-president of the Carteret Rotary Club and the current vice­­president of the Carteret Honorary P.B.A. He also serves as a “Trial Judge” at Seton Hall University’s Law School Trial Moot Court Pro­gram. He was also the first president of the Central Jersey Ski Club and now serves as one of the coaches for the Bayshore Babe Ruth Baseball League. He is as Hungarian as “kolbász”! Dr. Alexander Szemere Dr. Alexander Szemere has been in private practice as a chiropractic physician in Central Jersey since 1976, when he received his degree from the New York Chiropractic Col­lege. He studied at Rutgers Univerj sity and received his undergraduate degree from Rider College, after hav­ing served in the U.S. Army until 1970. Born in Budapest, Hungary, he and his parents emigrated in 1956 to Colombia, South America. Then they moved to the United States in 1966. Dr. Szemere’s post-graduate educaion has included studies in sports injuries, for certified team physician and nutrition. He is a member of the American Chiroprac­tic Association, the New Jersey Chiropractic Society, the Union, Mid­dlesex, and Somerset Counties Chiropractic Society, and the American College of Sports Medicine. He has also participated in numerous “Health Talk” radio broadcasts in Philadelphia, New York, and New Brunswick. He and his wife reside in Kendall Park, New Jersey, and have three children. He exemplifies the achievements made by so many of the 1956ers, who emigrated to the United States after the Hungarian Revolution of 1956.
