On May 15th, the editor was the guest of the St. Mary’s Hungarian Roman Catholic Church and the American Hungarian Cultural Society of St. Louis, Missouri. Appreciation goes to Father Joseph Somos, pastor of the Congregation; Mr. László Scheirich, president of the Society and Prof. László Könnyű, one of the vice presidents of the HETF, who made the arrangements. The editor also had an opportunity to inspect the impressive decor of the inside of the church on a guided tour by one of the church member. In this issue we are up-dating the Membership Roster and the Donations. Please up-date your subscription and your membership in the HETF for 1983. In this issue we pay tribute to one of the great poet and writer in the 20th Century of the Hungarian Nation. GYULA ILLYÉS, born 1902 in Rácegrespuszta, and died in Budapest on April 15, 1983. The Bethlen Press had the privilege to print an English translation of his poems “A Tribute to Gyula Illyés”. For the last 15 years the Members of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America got used to send their Change of Address and even inquiries to the Bethlen Press. In the February, 1983 issue we mentioned that a new English-Hungarian lessons were under preparation. Unfortunately what we received was not what we have expected. For this reason we are returning to our original plan, to bring you the “Magyar Reader” prepared by Dr. Endre Sebestyén over forty years ago and since then was used by by many churches and other Hungarian summei schools teaching Hungarian. Since I have been receiving your publication I can truthfully say that I truly enjoy reading it. The May issue was especially interesting in view of the article entitled “The Early Hungarians” by Tibor E. Baráth. It has prompted me to order his book from Canada. I was pleased to see the article on ‘Sándor Zilahy’, as he spent many hours in Youngstown, Ohio working with the “St. Stephen’s Dance Group”, which is still in existance.
