THE AMERICAN-HUNGARIAN CITIZENS CLUB OF RAHWAY Founded in 1922, the American-Hungarian Citizens Club of Rahway is one of the oldest and most successful of its kind in the State of New Jersey. It is unique in this day and age in the sense that, while other Hungarian organizations appear to be dying-on-the-vine because of decreasing membership and increasing lack of supporting interest, the membership of this particular club, as well as supporting interest in it, continues to grow. Moreover, it is now beginning to attract young American-Hungarians Louis Ruszkay, President of the American-Hungarian Citizens Club of Rahway, New Jersey. as well. Its social affairs are always sell-outs, while the shows produced by its theatrical group draws people from all over the state. A non-profit organization, the American-Hungarian Citizens Club of Rahway is totally dedicated to the protection and preservation of the Hungarian Heritage of its membership and to the purpose of providing the local American-Hungarian community with an active and permanent cultural, educational, and social center. Under the presidential leadership of Louis Ruszkay and the managerial assistance of a capable Board of Directors, the club is achieving its organizational objectives to a remarkable degree. Needless to add, its theatrical group has played and is playing a vital role in the ongoing enchancement of this unsual achievement. THE AMERICAN-HUNGARIAN THEATRE GROUP After many years of producing, directing, and acting in numerable plays and skits performed for the benefit of the American-Hungarian Citizens Club of Rahway, New Jersey, Joseph Bodnar decided to reorganize his volunteer cast into an identifiable group affiliated with the club and in accordance with his years of experience with the old Zilahy troupe. The result of this effort was the founding, several years ago, of the American-Hungarian Theatrical Group. Since then, the group has staged performances not only at the sponsoring club, but also in such cities as Perth Amboy, Woodbridge, Passaic (New Jersey), and in New York City. Every performance was SRO! Every performance was a smash-hit!
