Fage 2 THE EIGHTH TRIBE March, 1982 DEDICATION This magazine is dedicated to the Eighth Tribe in America, descendants of the original Seven Magyar Tribes. IThatever their faith, their familiarity with their ancestral language, or their degree of Hungarian ancestry, we address ourselves to each of them. If this reading is your first acquaintance with “THE EIGHTH TRIBE", we hope you find it informative and enjoyable and that in time you will become one of our regular subscribers. This magazine is and remains the “LIFE LINE’ that keeps us together, that makes us and shapes us into a national Family. THE EDITOR’S CORNER . . . A few days ago a gentlemen walked in the Bethlen Press exclaiming: Is this the headquarters for the Eighth Tribe? — My name is Kelley! Mr. Kelley’s grandparents came to America in the 1870-s from Pest (now Budapest;). He is eager to learn about his Hungarian Heritage and plane to visit Hungary in the near future to see the land of his ancestors. Mr. Kelley is a member of the Forty Martyrs Catholic (Hungarian) Church in Trauger, Pa. The Kelley family is the second family to join the Eighth Tribe since we mentioned this almost forgotten Hungarian congregation in the 1981 October isse. Presently we have request from the Toledo, Ohio Hungarian Club and the San Francisco, Cal. Stephaneum to start a ‘Society—Club’ page in the magazine; to list their monthly activities. We ask other Societies to send in their News, Dates of special and weekly, or monthly Activities so it can be listed. This service by the Eighth Tribe will start in the April issue. The applications for membership in the Hungarian Eighth Tribe Foundation have started to come in. Your response will determine the future of this magazine and the Fundation. Letters to the editor:— Dear Mr. Chomos: Enclosed is our check for $10.00 for the Hungarian Cultural Institute. Proud to have a small part in the preservation of our heritage.
