Its membership is comprized of a cross-section of Hungarian churches, organizations and individuals. The Foundation’s primary goal is to assist in the preservation of the Hungarian Heritage especially in the younger generation of Hungarian descent and inform the general public about the historical, cultural and scientific contribution of the Magyar nation to mankind. The Foundation encourages research and educational programs, academic studies in universities, colleges and high schools, has an active scholarship and award program, regularly sponsors lectures and symposia and recently has extended its activities into a new field: English Language publications, to stimulate interest in the study of Hungary and Hungarians. RÁKÓCZI FOUNDATION PUBLICATIONS This is the first in a series of bio-bibliographies of illustrious Hungarian immigrants, who by preserving their national heritage, become ‘ ‘International Giants” ■ and contributed so much to the cultural and scientific life of their adopted countries. Laura Fermi, in her nook “Illustrious Immigrants” spends a whole Chapter on and tries to resolve ‘The Mystery of the Hungarian Talent.” Without too much success, but the following quotes might justify the publisher’s hope: that the series will be interesting, educational, stimulating and useful. “When Fermi’s Latin and Teller’s Magyar brains came together, they sparked, like two electrically charged bodies.” EPILOGUE BY EDWARD TELLER RF RF BIOGRAPH I ES: ONE THE AUTHOR Francis S. Wagner is a graduate of the University of Szeged, Hungary. He earned his PhD. in history, philosophy and literature summa cum laude in 1940. He taught at various colleges and served as a specialist in Slavic affairs in the Ministry of Public Education and in the Department of Foreign Affairs in Budapest. In 1953 Dr. Wagner immigrated into the United States. He retired in 1981 from the staff of Library of Congress, after 28 years of service. Dr. Wagner’s interests include nationality and racial relations, the diplomatic history of World War II, and the prestige of the United States abroad. He has written several books on these topics in English, Hungarian and Slovak along with 250 articles.
