Page 2 THE EIGHTH TRIBE February, 1982 DEDICATION This magazine is dedicated to the Eighth Tribe in America, descendants of the original Seven Magyar Tribes. Whatever their faith, their familiarity with their ancestral language, or their degree of Hungarian ancestry, we address ourselves to each of them. If this reading is your first acquaintance with “THE EIGHTH TRIBE’, we hope you find it informative and enjoyable and that in time you will become one of our regular subscribers. This magazine is and remains the “LIFE LINE’ that keeps us together, that makes us and shapes us into a national Family. THE EDITOR’S CORNER . . . Our apologies to our readers for the delay in publishing the January and February issue of the Eighth Tribe. Unforseen circumstances prohibited the timely appearance of these issues, the March issue should be out on time. In the March issue we will feature Miss Julia Orosz, well known songstress and radio personality. We appreciate the understanding shown by our readers and will try to make up for it the beet we we are able. The winter in Ligonier was extremely trying this year, ice storm, unusual cold spells, power failures you name it, we had it. Some of cur readers would like to know if and when the Heritage Conference will be held in 1982. At the present time we do not know, we welcome your comments on this, the date you might prefer, and on any other topics. Some of you might be interested that the William Penn Associaton aind the Hungarian Reformed Federation are discussing consolidation. The unification of these two sister Hungarian organizations should be endorsed by all who favor strenghtening and preserving our Hungarian heritage in America. We hope the leaders and the members of these two associations will find a common-ground and be able to form a strong and united fraternal body. We would like to have more letters or comments on the Transylvanian Quarterly and everything else relating to Transylvania. What you or anybody could or should do about this great Hungarian Cemetery. As the decades go by — soon the Rumanians will be able to say “there are no Hungarians in Transylvania as you can see they are all dead.” All efforts by our people to help our brothers and sisters in their Babylonian captivity so far produced THE EIGHTH TRIBE Editor ........................................................ It seems a different kind of approach is needed. So if you have any new idea in this respect lets hear it. Maybe, when our Secretary of State will visit Bucharest again he should be better versed about the real situation in Rumania. Who knows what can develop. A national identity, a yearning for freedom is a mighty force and can cause unforseen and unexpected events. Our apologies also for getting the Bethlen Naptár out later as we usually do. — While reading through the Naptár, one can realize the value of both the spiritual and monetary wealth left behind for the present and future generation by those who built, established our churches and societies. The Bethlen Naptár is mostly written in Hungarian, but there are some church reports written in English also.
