Page 14 THE EIGHTH HUNGARIAN TRIBE September, 1982 Following in the footsteps of other Hungarian atomic scientists Teenage genius Elizabeth Honrath designed an H-bomb in her spare time that experts call simple, cheap and deadly! The federal government hasn't given much encouragement to the bomb made by 15 year old Elizabeth. “No one even answered me. I don’t know if they even care, I just wanted to know, if I was on the right track,” Elizabeth said. “The government kept refering her to one agency afteafter another,” sair her father, Emeric Horvath. When she was 14, the amazing girl scored an incredible 220 points higher on a college entrance exam than the average high school senior. Instead of dances, Big Macs and drive-ins, Elizabeth takes calculus, physics and French as a freshman at Florida Atlantic Univ. in Boca Raton. The information for her H-bomb came from reference books and declassified government records. Her H-bomb was so precise it won Elizabeth a $500 scholarship and a tour of the Bell Laboratories in New Jersey. Experts in nuclear physics say simplicity of her design is “unbelievable.” Her proud father said her knowledge of physics is extraordinary. Everybody is born with a certain amount of brains and determination, Elizabeth is a 15 year old who uses her brains and adds determination and hard work. Four years from now Elizabeth hopes to be knee-deep in such things as radioactive particles as a nuclear physicist. She would like to go into design of nuclear weapons for the government. She will be 21 when she will get her doctorate and then she'll go on with her career.
