The Eighth Hungarian Tribe, 1982 (9. évfolyam, 1-12. szám)

1982-09-01 / 9. szám

September, 1982 THE EIGHTH HUNGARIAN TRIBE Page 7 everybody’s enjoyment. They were: Tammy Zsemko, Miss Magyar of Western Pa., Margaret Bernstein, Midge Heil, Bill Hintzan and Richard W. Heyz. Coordinator of the group is Mrs. Elizabeth E. Király. Everybody had a good time — dancing the csárdás and singing Hungarian Folk Songs. Tapes for the occasion were provided by Miss Julia Orosz, Homestead, Pa., ‘Garden of Hungarian Songs’ Radio program; Mr. János Kiss, Conductor and Music Director of the West Suburban Philharmonic Orchestra, Cleveland, Ohio and Dr. George C. Szegő. The parliamentary meeting was continued Sunday morning at the facilities of Bethlen Press. The problems of the Fundation and the magazine were discussed thoroughly. I was recommended that more action should be taken at local levels. Branches to be organized to sponsor Fund Raising and Subscription Drives. Mr. Louis L. Ambrose promised to form an Illinois Chapter in the Chicago area with the help of the subscribers from that area. Others promised to do the same in their respective area. To reach all people of Hungarian ancestry the local American papers should be utilized in the areas, where large Hungarian population located. Also the Conference ask all Hungarian papers to promote the work of the Foundation and the Magazine, as our magazine list all Hungarian publication. A special thanks to the editors of the Chicago és Kör" méke for their help by promoting the Eighth Tribe in every issue. Also to all the Hungarian Radio programs for their contribution in spreading the word about the magazine and the Foundation. Presently every Hungarian Church of all faiths receives a free copy for the Congregation and one for the pastor. This practice wiU be stopped; presently about 3% of the Chitrches and about 5% of the pastors subscribe to the magazine. So it is not fair to those who are paying to have the others receive free copies. We call upon all the churches and their pastors that not only subscribe to the magazine, but also become a Member in the Hungarian Eighth Tribe Foundation. We also call upon all Fraternal and Social Societies of Hungarian background to support the Foundation to achieve its porpose for which it was created for. Of the 44 persons attended 34 were American born, second or third generation. Some of them emphasized that they have learned lot about Hungary, the Hungarian Nation and Hungarian contribution to America of which they were not aware of, through the magazine and the Conferences. They were mystified and could not understand: why the Foundation and the magazine are not receiving the support they should get from all Americans of Hungarian ancestry. All present pledged to work to make the Hungarian Eighth Tribe Foundation a living organization, and ask the same from all members and subscribers. Special donation for the magazine from persons attending the Conference: Kevin Toth $5.00; Gus G. Nagy S5.00; Louis L. Ambrose $25.00, also in Memory of Rev. Dr. Arthur Ludwig $25.00; Blanche Buoymaster .$5.00; Louise Pupillo $20.00; Mariska Cossa $20.00; Dr. Tibor Bodi $10.00; Theodore and Pearl Kish $100.00; Miss Pearl A. Kish $20.00; Arthur A.
