Page 2 THE EIGHTH TRIBE May, 1981 DEDICATION This magazine is dedicated to the Eighth Tribe in America, descendants of the original Seven Magyar Tribes. Whatever their faith, their familiarity with their ancestral language, or their degree of Hungarian ancestry, we address ourselves to each of them. If this reading is your first acquaintance with “THE EIGHTH TRIBE?’, we hope you find it informative and enjoyable and that in time you will become one of our regular subscribers. This magazine is and remains the “LIFE LINli” that keeps us together, that makes us and shapes us into a national Family. THE EDITOR’S CORNER . . . First, on behalf of my father, I’d like to thank all the kind people for their well wishes and cards. They were really appreciated, and I’m happy to report that the editor is recuperating nicely. Second, we would like to express our thanks to the American Hungarian Federation for their generous gift of $100.00 toward our upcoming conference. They have offered their help as co-sponsors of the event. If any additional organizations or individuals would like to help co-sponsor the conference, please contact the editor. Also in regard to the conference, at the request of many, we have decided to change the conference days from Thursday, Friday and Saturday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday. See the back page for an outline of conference events. The family of the Eighth Tribe joins all Christians in their prayers for Pope John Paul II after the attempted assassination on his life. Your attendance at the Eighth Tribe Conference in August should be a very important step to restore the unity amongst the American-Hungarians Whether representing your church, your organization, or just yourself, the most important thing is to he there. We would like to have from every Hungarian Church — Catholic and Protestant —- at least two representatives. Also from every society. Individual participation urged. REGISTRATION FEE for the Conference is $20.00 — includes the Saturday evening Banquet. More information will be printed in future issues. Conference language is English. Those who have not mastered the English language can present their presentations in Hungarian and it will be translated into English.
