Page 2 THE EIGHTH TRIBE January, 1981 DEDICATION This magazine is dedicated to the Eighth Tribe in America, descendants of the original Seven Magyar Tribes. Whatever their faith, their familiarity with their ancestral language, or their degree of Hungarian ancestry, we address ourselves to each of them. If this reading is your first acquaintance with “THE EIGHTH TRIBE”, we hope you find it informative and enjoyable and that in time you will become one of our regular subscribers. This magazine is and remains the “LIFE LINE” that keeps us together, that makes us and shapes us into a national Family. THE EDITOR’S CORNER . . . The Eighth Tribe magazine was revived in 1974 — 1981 starts its eighth year of publication. During the past seven years we tried to gain the support of the political, religious and social leaders of the American Hungarian Community without much success. We tried to convince them that the aim of the Eighth Tribe Foundation should be their aim also. Finally, at the end of 1980 we saw a small encouraging ray of hope, we hope it is not too late. Our thanks to the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America and the William Penn Association for publishing information about the Eighth Tribe magazine in their Quarterly Fraternal magazines. Through the two publications over 40,000 families learned about the existence of the Eighth Tribe magazine. We also would like to acknowledge the same of the Chicaéo és Környéke (weekly) and Napjaink, Canada (quarterly). After the above mentioned publications appeared, we received 10 new subscriptions to date, indicating these magazines as their source. We hope for many, many more. We like to acknowledge the Lorantffy Care Center, Akron, Ohio and the William Penn Association for their $100.00 donations toward the publication of the Eighth Tribe Magazine. We would like to thank all those who took time out from their busy lives to send us Christmas and New Year greetings. Reaffirming their support for this magazine and what it stands for. Your cards and the encouraging words are really appreciated. We ask that all those who did not send in their subscription for 1981, please do. In a few months we shall go through the addresses again, and discontinue sending the magazine to those who did not pay for 1980 and 1981.
