Page 2 THE EIGHTH TRIBE June, 1980 DEDICATION This magazine is dedicated to the Eighth Tribe in America, descendants of the original Seven Magyar Tribes. IVhatever their faith, their familiarity with their ancestral language, or their degree of Hungarian ancestry, we address ourselves to each of them. If this reading is your first acquaintance with “THE EIGHTH TRIBE”, we hope you find it informative and enjoyable and that in time you will become one of our regular subscribers. THE EDITOR’S CORNER . . . In the month of July, we celebrate the birth of the United States of America. A second Noah’s Ark. Remember how God instructed Noah to gather two of every animal on earth and take them into the Ark. Here in the United states of America, God gathered people from all nations, all creeds and colors, and blended them into one nation. A new nation destined to be a leader amongst all nations. We, descendants of the Seven Magyar Tribes, have have contributed our share toward building this country. Since the Revilutionary War we have fought shoulder-to-shoulder with those of other nationalities in the U. S. Army. Canadian Hungarian have done the same in the Canadian Army. The Pioneers held the Bible in one hand and spade in the other. They believed in God and hard work. But more than that, each nationality brought their culture with them. They built their respective churches, established Fraternal Societies and many educational Institutions. The time will come when there will be no distinct nationality in the United States. It will be one nation blended together by God, rich with the heritage the immigrants brought to this new land. (In this melting pot for some unexplainable reason only the Jewish nation will keep their faith and their distinct nationality, as they have for many thousands of years, in slavery and in freedom.) As this editor sees it; the passing on of the current generation will mean the end of our nationality-based churches and our Fraternal Societies. This magazine is trying to acquaint the younger generation with the rich heritage we have inherited. The Eighth Tribe Foundation is trying to preserve thisheritage, so that future generations will be able to see and read about their ancestors: The Seven Magyar Tribes and the Eighth Tribe here in America. We need your help to reach our goal! We welcome Professor Joseph Szürcsik as an active worker for the Eighth Tribe. He has volunteered his time and effort to act in a Public Relations role for this magazine and the Eighth Tribe Foundation. Our congratulations to Rev. Imre Bertalan, of New Brunswick, N.
