ÁRPÁD CSABA OROSZ: Pastor, Free Magyar Reformed Church McKeesport, Pennsylvania 15132 Mortgage Burning was observed by the FREE MAGYAR REFORMED CHURCH of McKeesport, Pa. — November 12, 1978 The Free Magyar Reformed Church of McKeesport, Pa., celebrated the burning of the Mortgage on Nov. 12. The Hungarian Reformed Federation of America was represented by the Right Reverend Arpad George, Presi­dent of the Federation, Mr. Elmer Wargo, Secretary, and also Mr. Joseph Molnár, Section Manager of the Fed­eration in Western Pennsylvania. From the William Penn Association our guests were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Stelkovics, Mr. and Mrs. Gay Banes, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Nagy and Mr. and Mrs. John Szabó. The worship service started at 4:00 P.M. The Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy, former pastor of the local congregation, preached in Hungarian. The Rt. Rev. Tibor Dömötör, Dean of the Western Classis, Deputy Bishop of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America, proclaimed the Word of God in English. The Rt. Rev. Árpád George prayed in English and the Rev. Louis Illés, pastor of Duquesne, Pa. sister-church, prayed in Hungarian. Also the Rev. Paul Kovács, Director of Bethlen Home, Ligonier, Pa.; the Rev. Zoltán Kovács, pastor of the Hungarian Reformed Church in Munhall; the Rev. Lesile Papp, pastor of Brighton Road U.P. Church, Pittsburgh, Pa., participated, together with the local pastor, in the worship service. Billy Orris, Jr., sang a solo in church. Mr. John Kontz, Chief Elder of 1972 when the new church was dedicated, served as toastmaster. Mr. Charles Bone from Allen Park, Mich., Chief Elder of Western Classis, addressed the congregation, speaking on behalf of the Rt. Rev. Bishop Dezső Ábrahám. Addresses were presented by the Rt. Rev. Tibor Dömötör, Sándor E. Chomos, Editor of the Eighth Tribe magazine and President of Bethlen Press, Inc., the Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy, the Rev. Leslie Papp, whose parents are members of the congregation, and the Rev. Louis Illés. Mayor Thomas Fullard was represented by Mr. Ken-John Kontz, Toastmaster Rt. Rev. Tibor Dömötör Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy Sándor E. Chomos neth Green, McKeesport, Director of Community Develop­ment. Emil Mrkonic, State Representative of the 37th Legis­lative District, made the presentation of a citation from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania commending the church for its accomplishment. The Mortgage was burned by the Rt. Rev. Arpad George, President of the HRFA and Chief Elder Julius Bakos. The President emphasized the importance of the fact that the Free Hungarian Reformed Church was able to pay back to the Federation in 6 years and 3 months the mortgage re­ceived for 15 years. He made the presentation of the key to the Chief Elder and the Pastor. Mr. John Kontz paid tribute to the founding members of the church who are still living. Mr. John Darnay, Mrs. Joseph Molnár and Mrs. Michael Toth were present at the event. Mrs. Menyhért Fejes, Mr. and Mrs. Aron Fazekas, Mrs. Andrew Biró, Mrs. Bertalan Juhász, Mrs. Louis Kerti, Mr. Eugene Oláh and Mrs. John Simon are still living from the founding members of the congregation. Members of the building committee of 1972 were: the Rev. Barnabás Rőczey, then pastor, William Árokháty, Gábor Balogh, Steven Balogh, Albert Bertok, John Canelle, Andrew Mortgage burning: Rev. Arpad Csaba Orosz, Chief Elder Julius Bakos and Rt. Rev. Árpád George, president of the Hungarian Reformed Federation.
