This is truly a beautiful group of people, as well as of culture. People from all walks of life. The first function held by the club was a picnic, August 8, 1976, which was very successful. Followed by a Hungarian Fall Festival on September 26, 1976. And the most beautiful New Year’s Eve Party — First Class all the way — with a roast pig, hurka, kolbász, laci pecsenye, and all the trimmings of other foods. Topped off by all types of Hungarian Pastries, Dobos Tortes, Dios Tortes, Retes, kalach, etc. Each person was given a Hungarian song book (put to­gether by our chairman Alex Horvath). This year we followed through with a picnic which also was very successful. We will have our Fall Festival, Sun­day, October 2, 1977 at St. Helen’s Church Hall on Route 87 in Newbury, Ohio. The club has many ideas and plans for the future. Officers are: President, Mrs. Henry (Ann) Mc­Bride; Vice President, Mr. George Kappler; Secre­tary, Mrs. Steve (Helen) Kume; Treasurer, Mr. Steve Racz; 3 Year Trustee, Mrs. Joseph (Betty) Szusz­­kiewicz; 2 Year Trustee, Miss Agnes Tvergyak; 1 Year Trustee, Mr. James Denes. Editor's Note: We proudly welcome the members of the “Geauga County (Ohio) Hungarian Culture Club” into the family of the Eighth Tribe. We hope that their story will be an inspiration for others to form similar clubs and in­crease the membership of the Eighth Tribe. Congratulations. CARDINAL JÓZSEF MINDSZENTY’S STATUE IN CLEVELAND, OHIO (Cover Story) Marker designating the Cardinal Mindszenty Plaza Cardinal József Mindszenty’s statute was placed and dedicated on July 22, 1977 on the Cardinal Mind­szenty Plaza, Cleveland, Ohio. The unveiling ceremony began at 7 p.m. con­ducted by Joseph Bosilievic, Official Opening; Ray­mond Kudikis, Master of Ceremonies; Chester Koch, Presentation of the Colors; Rev. Imre Juhász, pastor of the West Side Hungarian Evangelical Lutheran Church, Invocation; E. Gyuri Hollósy, sculptor of the statue, and László Kernes, President of the United Hungarian Societies, Presentation of the Statue; Most Rev. Bishop Gilbert I. Sheldon, Blessing of the Mind­szenty Statue; The Hon. Ralph J. Perk, Acceptance of the Mindszenty Statue and Fr. Dr. Julián Füzér, O.F.M., pastor of St. László Catholic Church, Address in Hungarian and English. The Commemorative Banquet Program was of­ficially opened by Dr. Gábor Papp with opening prayer by Fr. Dr. János Nyeste. Presentations of Freedom Awards were presented by Dr. Pál Löte, President of the Federation of Hungarian Freedom­­fighters; László Kernes, President of the United Hun­garian Societies made a presentation to E. Gyuri Hollósy, the sculptor of the Mindszenty statue and Certificates of Appreciation were presented by László Sirchich. Closing remarks were given by László Kernes, President of the United Hungarian Societies, witli closing prayer by Fr. Richard Orley.
