April, 1976 THE EIGHTH TRIBE Page 7 Shown above are various standard products designed and manufactured by Daedal for the optical, laser, and electromechanical industries. Generally the line includes optical mounts, mirror mounts, horizontal and rotary positioning devices, beam directors, and other accessories for use in precision laboratory setups, laser systems, and other mechanical systems requiring positioning. Over 160 products are now offered, many of which have interchangeable components that can be used by engineers and technicians much like an erector set. dal lias had the insight to develop a standard product line which it manufactures and markets internationally. The products are positioning slides, optical mounts and accessories related to the laser, electrooptical, and the metalworking industries and include over 160 items all available from stock. Lou was quick to note “although we have our standard products, the Companys well being is still very dependent on subcontract design and machining work ranging from simple widgets to complex systems for both government and industry.” When we asked Lou about his growth and success, his comments were, “hard work and perseverance have been the key factors to date.” Another hit of philosophy offered was “when in business, you’ve got to get along with people.” Kaldi resides in Squirrel Hill with his wife, Clara and their two sons, Mark and Eric. Most of the family’s somewhat limited leisure time is spent at their place in the Magyar Park at Laurel Highlands where Lou enjoys skiing in the winter and swimming and fishing in the summer. Lou is also a competitor at tennis and squash. Lou feels that his accomplishments to date are only a start and that he plans to continue his efforts toward further growth and expansion of the business that he and his partner have built thus far. We wish Lou well in his future endeavors.
