August, 1976 THE EIGHTH TRIBE Page 5 HBA News by Sándor Chomos: THE FIRST CONGRESS OF INTERNATIONAL TECHNOLOGY A new organization, International Technology Institute, was formed in late 1975 which will have its first international kick-off activity during the week of October 3-8, 1976 at the Pittsburgh Hilton Hotel. The International Technology Institute is dedicated to the transfer and exchange of technology across academic, governmental, technical society and industry lines and across international boundaries. The Institute, a private organization, has the objective to assist those who are wishing to offer or receive technology. The Institute members abide by the policies of their employers and applicable local and international laws. Dr. István S. Tuba President of Basic Technology, Inc. The Institute also has goals relating to the closer understanding of the role and effects of technology utilization on society and on numerous related topics, both on the national and on the international levels. The Congress will start with a cocktail hourreception on Sunday, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Lecture series begins on Monday morning and will continue through Friday noon. The meeting schedule is 9-12 a.m., 2-5 p.m., and 7-9 p.m. An official banquet will take place Wednesday evening; cocktails at 6:00 p.m. and dinner at 7:00 p.m. A technical exhibit accompanies the Congress at the Hilton. The speakers come from all over the world, with the USA and Saudi Arabia dominating. From the U. S. Government, the Naval Nuclear Power Unit provides five lectures alone. Control Data Corporation is one of the exhibitors. The Hungarian community is also represented. The speakers include Dr. Kalman Mecs, President of SI Metric Institute of Pittsburgh, Mr. Sándor J. Baranyi, President of Trochoidal Gear Technology, Incorporated, Dr. Peter Simon, President of PTD Enterprises, Ltd., Mr. Peter S. Gaal, President of Anter Laboratories, Incorporated. Dr. Edward Chaszar, Professor of Indiana University is acting as chairman of a complete session. There is room for more by special arrangement. The Office of Technology Assessment of the U. S. Congress will be represented by Joseph F. Coates. The Honorable Bud Shuster, member of the U. S. Congress, will also express his views, as well as many others from the academic and industrial community. As a final note, it should be recognized that the founder and first president of International Technology Institute is our Dr. István S. Tuba. The Institute can provide an international forum of influence to Hungarians, as well as to others, if properly used and supported. We ask all those who can, to provide a helping hand by participating in the Congress, its social functions or join the Institute as a member. Special rates are available. In principles and operations HBA is similar to the Chamber of Commerce.
