February, 1975 THE EIGHTH TRIBE Page Seventeen editoris note pad i§i!^ GUEST EDITORIAL: — Once the nationalities of the United States were urged to give up their past and join each other in a melting pot. The dream was to create a single new people. But in recent years there is a different emphasis. The ethnic groups are becoming more aware of their heritage and their Old World values. Diversity has been created within the unity, which has provided a more colorful cultural life in America. The nationalities are no longer supposed to discard their old customs. They are urged to be a part of the colorful mosaic, and bring forth the best of their traditions. The EIGHTH TRIBE is a great cultural contribution in providing a meaningful education about our heritage. We can be, and should be proud of our past. But some second and third generation Hungarian-Americans are no longer aware of our cultural treasures. They are the ones who would benefit the most by reading The EIGHTH TRIBE. We easily spend money on food and drinks. Does not our mind deserve a few dollars a year? I think it does. In my opinion The EIGHTH TRIBE provides very good cultural and mental nourishments. I wholeheartedly recommend to our people this valuable and educational magazine. Paul Kantor, Pastor Fairport Harbor, Ohio Bethlen Press: Thank you for the past issues — published for Hungarians by Hungarians. We don’t forget our past heritage. Keep up the good work, Sincerely, Mr. and Mrs. P. Miller 3rd generation Hungarians Cleveland, Ohio In the March issue we will feature the biography of Sándor Petőfi.
