INovember, 1975 THE EIGHTH TRIBE Page 9 editorit note pad First of all, we regret the lateness of the November issue due to unforeseen conditions. So this month you shall receive two issues. *** The Eighth Tribe lately circulates among many Hungarians who are not familiar with the magazine or its policy and purpose. The Eighth Tribe is a non-denomination — nonreligious — non-political magazine. Our main purpose is to acquaint our second and third generations with our forefather’s heritage, and at the same time also serve the old generation. If we present an article and picture about a church anniversary or a religious leader of any denomination, a society, or a person of Hungarian origin, it means that they have earned recognition and should be brought to the attention of our readers. The Eighth Tribe in its two years of publication became a source of reference on the Hungarian Nation’s History and the Hungarian Americans. There are many Hungarian newspapers and magazines published in the U. S. and in Canada for people who can only read or only want to read Hungarian. These papers are there to fight the political battles and to give an opportunity for many writers, who fled Hungary to continue writing. It is each individual’s privilege to choose which ever paper they wish to read. But the real question in our view is can your children or grandchildren read it ? Can they learn something about their parents’ heritage? This is the gap the Eighth Tribe tries to fulfill. So before you criticise this paper for not doing what the other Hungarian journals do, think of its value to your children and to non-Hungarians who by reading the Eighth Tribe might learn to respect the Hungarian contribution toward the achievements of the U.S. during the last 200 years. *** The Eighth Tribe endorsed the Magyar Gazdasági Társaság, (MGT), and the Hungarian Business Association (HBA) because when those become a reality, it will be beneficial to all. It is an economical issue in the frame of our lives in the United States. It may create another common bond between the Hungarian Americans. The EIGHTH TRIBE November, 1975 P. 0.
