Page 2 THE EIGHTH TRIBE Szeptember, 1975 editoris note pad The June 1975 issue of The Eighth Tribe was dedicated to Cardinal Mindszenty. This editor in his dedication indicated that the two greatest religious leaders of the Hungarian nation were Cardinal Mindszenty and Dr. László Ravasz, the last presiding Bishop of the Hungarian Reformed Church. He died on August 6, 1975 in Budapest. We dedicate this issue to the memory of Dr. Ravasz, Bishop of the Hungarian Reformed Church. Bishop Ravasz served his nation as Bishop for over 40 years. This editor had the privilege of meeting him twice during his life time and remembers him with great reverence. Through the providence of God, it was my greatest privilege to work on the New Testament revised by Bishop Ravasz and published by the Bethlen Press. Bishop Ravasz was one of the most outstanding scholars and spiritual leaders of the more than four hundred year old Hungarian Reformed Christiandom. His mastery of Biblical and modern European languages, his knowledge of Biblical theology, his learning and deep spirituality, combined with his great literary talents have produced his new version of the New Testament in the Hungarian language. Bishop Ravasz said while he was in the United States that the time will come when the children of the Eighth Tribe will be the real voice of the Hungarian nation in the world. Let us live up to his legacy. Let us be faithful to our country and never forget the nation our forefathers came from. Sándor E.
