jfrom tíje €xecutíbe Bírector EASTER GREETINGS Luke 24:13-35 Dear Supporters and Friends of The Bethlen Home! A very beautiful portion of the Holy Bible tells of the wonderful encounter with Jesus, experienced by two of His disciples, while they walked the long road to Emmaus, on the third day after Jesus’ crucifixion. The account is very frank in nature. It is endearing to us because we can identify with the despair and doubt voiced by the disciples as they mourn the loss of Jesus. Despite the “Good News” from the empty tomb, as shared by the women who visited, these men did not believe in their hearts that God had raised Jesus from the dead, and so they were sad and disappointed. “As they talked and discussed, Jesus himself drew near and walked along with them; they saw Him, but somehow did not recognize Him.” (vs. 15) This “Stranger” talked with the men concerning the events of those days, and He helped them understand the events’ significance for all of humankind. Yet, in the end, it was through the Stranger’s actions, that the men finally recognized the depth of God’s Grace and His Love. “The two then explained to (the other disciples) what had happened on the road, and how they had recognized the Lord when he broke the bread.” (vs. 35) Above and beyond all of the important medical and scientific knowledge, it has been the Presence of the Living God, which has defined who The Bethlen Home and, now, Ligonier Gardens are. God’s Holy Spirit inspired our elders to begin the important ministry to the orphans more than 80 years ago. It has been our Lord’s guidance throughout the decades that has enabled the establishment of the various services for the retirees and the elderly. And it is the Lord’s presence today, which will enable The Bethlen Home to meet the challenge of building the new nursing home and to continue playing the important role it has in the lives of its residents, in the towns of the beautiful Ligonier Valley and in the larger American Hungarian community. The Risen Lord continues to be recognized in the “breaking of the bread” and in the care being given by our wonderful staff. The residents and staff of The Bethlen Home and HÚSVÉTI KÖSZÖNTÉS Lukács 23, 13-35 A Bethlen Otthon köszönti barátait és támogatóit. A Szentírásnak egyik megható jelenete ez, amikor a feltámadott Jézus az Emmausba vezető úton találkozik kettővel tanítványai közül, akik szomorúan bandukolnak a hazafelé vezető országúton, mert nem hisznek a Krisztus feltámadást hirüladó üzeneteknek. Könnyen megértjük őket, mert magunkra ismerünk a Jézust sirató tanítványok szomorúságában és kicsinyhitűségében. Hiába hangzik az örömhír az üres sírtól jövő asszonyok ajkán, a két vándor hitetlenül és csalódottan lépked Emmaus felé. “És történt, hogy amint beszélgetének és egymástól kérdezősködének, maga Jézus hozzájuk menvén, velük együtt ment az úton, de az ő szemeik visszatartóztatának, hogy őt meg ne ismerjék” (15-16). A kedves“ldegen” egész idő alatt próbálkozott megértetni velük a történteket, de csak az út végén ismerték fel nem azáltal, amit mondott, hanem amit tett. Ez jelentette a nagy változást életükben, melynek eredményeként mostmár ők hirdették a többi tanítványoknak, hogy “mi történt az úton és, hogy miképpen ismerték meg őt a kenyér megtörésében”. Minden egészségügyi indoklás felett az élő Isten jelenléte az, ami magyarázatot ad a Bethlen Otthon és a Ligonier Garden létének és ma is folyó szolgálatának. Isten szent Szentlelke késztette eleinket 80 évvel ezelőtt az árvák gondozására. Isten Lelke vezette őkett amikor gondviselő szeretetüket kiterjesztették az idősökre, az élet megfáradt vándoraira. Isten érezhető jelenléte az, ami képessé tesz minket, a ma élő és szolgáló nemzedéket az új otthon építésére, hogy a Bethlen Otthon továbbra is áldás lehessen gondozottjai számára és fontos szerepet töltsön be Ligonier város és az amerikai magyar társadalom életében. A feltámadott Jézus felismerése a “kenyér megtörésében” ma is egy életet formáló élmény. A Bethlen Otthon vezetői és gondozottai szeretettel gondolnak intézeteink barátaira és támogatóira.
