^Upcoming (Ebentô SEPTEMBER HIGHLIGHTS Ligonier Gardens Hello everyone. My name is Lisa Burkley. Most of the residents know me here at Ligonier Gardens, where I have been a caregiver for two years. Start­ing August 11,1 became the new Activity Director, and I have many new activities planned. We will be doing more crafts and trying out some new games. Sandy Fritz and I are also planning future parties, Luau’s, a 50’s Party, Steeler parties, and many oth­ers. I know we will all have a great time. Think Hawaiian As the weather will start to change in September, some of us will still want those hot summer days. This month we will be doing things Hawaiian style. Here are the activities for September. Tuesday, 2nd: Bible Study at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, 16th: Crafts at 3:00 p.m.: Tiki Lamp Shades Friday, 19th: Decorations for the Party at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, 23rd: Music by Kevin Solecki at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, 23rd: Making grass skirts at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, 25th: Hawaiian Trivia at 3:00 p.m. Friday, 26th: Hawaiian Cocktail Party at 2:30 p.m. The Bethlen Home Thursday, 4th: Now that the fall season has arrived, our friends from the VFW Kooties will be returning to sponsor their monthly Bingo starting at 6:45 p.m. in the Dining Room. Sunday, 7th through the 13th: Learn about the his­tory of the ice cream cone along with some added treats throughout the week. Sunday, 21st: Celebrate “Back to School” Week Sunday, 28th: St. Michaels of the Valley will also be returning this month with their Pet Therapy Pro­gram. Join us at 2:00 p.m. and meet man’s best friend! OCTOBER HIGHLIGHTS Ligonier Gardens Blood Drive October 3, we will be holding another Blood Drive from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Every time you donate a pint of blood you save three lives. This is the great­est gift you can ever give. You are able to donate every 60 days. If you are interested in donating please contact Lisa or Julie at 724-238-3517. We will have food and refreshments afterwards. Thank You! Goblins and Ghouls Trick or Treat! Halloween is right around the corner. We will have Trick or Treating again this year, on October 25th. The residents will hand out candy to all the kids. If you are interested in sign­ing your child up, just contact Lisa Burkley or Julie Skovira at 724-238-3517. If you have a family mem­ber that will be handing out the candy, you can bring some in. If not, please let us know and we will sup­ply the candy for your family member so every resi­dent can participate. Other happenings for the month of October: Friday, 3rd: Blood Drive 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, 7th: Bible Study at 10:00 a.m. Friday, 17th: Making Halloween costumes at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, 21st: Music by Joe Marotto at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, 23rd: Music by Tracy Alaia at 1:30 p.m. Friday, 24th: Preparing for Trick or Treaters at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, 25th: Trick or Treaters from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Blood Pressure Clinic There will be a Blood Pressure Clinic the second Saturday of every month. Please come in and have your blood pressure checked. Having high or low blood pressure can cause serious medical problems, so please come and get checked. Call for more in­formation. The Bethlen Home October means “Halloween” so join us for a variety of activities from pumpkin carving, crafts, Spooks Dinner and our traditional Halloween Party through­out the month of October.
