The apples hang like ruby jewels High above our head; The flaming sumac bushes Are dashing in crimson red. The wild geese are heading south* In the hazy autumn sky; ® The pumpkins in the field below Are ready for spicy pie. The wheat is ready for harvest; The corn is a golden maize, The brook has ceased its babbling, And the squirrel no longer plays.
