SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER 2003 ISSUE “WAITING UPON (TRUSTING IN) THE LORD” Dear Friends and Family of The Bethlen Home! A deeper and less discussed aspect of our personal faith in God, through our Lord, Jesus Christ, is the experience of “waiting upon” and “trusting in” the Lord. Miracles can be wonderful, sudden changes in fortune or circumstance can be dramatic, but there are times when we know that God is near, yet we are unclear as to His thoughts or the direction in which He wishes to lead. The Christian finds that he/she must be patient and wait, while maintaining the trust that God is faithful and will provide for His children, in His own time. The ministry that takes place day in and day out in The Bethlen Nursing Home and in the Ligonier Gardens Personal Care Home, is made possible by an underlying faith in God, which is shared by residents and staff alike. And in this setting, on the part of residents and staff alike, patience, the ability to “wait upon” our Lord, the courage to “trust in” our Lord, becomes the foundation of our strength in the present and our hope as we look to the future. The Bethlen Home - Ligonier Gardens has been presented, once again, with a proposal by a financial institution, to provide the Letter of Credit necessary for the bond issuance, which, in turn, would provide the critical financial support for construction of the new nursing home. Those who have been following the progress of our expansion plans know that The Bethlen Home was in this position one year ago. Unfortunately, last year’s Letter of Credit proposals were withdrawn, and The Bethlen Home - Ligonier Gardens community was forced to wait, again, for the day that would bring to our residents the new Home, and the more spacious environment it will offer. “VÁRVÁN VÁRTAM AZÚRAT". A Bethlen Otthon nagy családjának és barátainak: Hitünk egyik alapvető magatartása: Várok az Úrra, bizalommal várok. Tudjuk, hogy közel van az Úr, de útja, érkezése ideje rejtve van. A keresztyén ember bizalommal vár. Bizonyos abban, hogy Isten megérkezik, de azt is tudja, hogy érkezése az Ő idszámitása szerint történik. A Bethlen Otthon és Ligonieri Kertek mindennap megújuló szolgálata, holnap felől táplált reménysége, gondozottak, és gondozók részéről ezen a biztos hitbeli alapon nyugszik: Várom az Urat és hiszek az Ő érkezésében. A Bethlen Otthon egy újabb pénzügyi intézettől a Otthon hitelképességére alapozott Ígéretet kapott a kölcsönre vonatkozólag, mely lehetővé teszi az új épület komplexum építési munkálatának elkezdését. Akik ismeretesek a fejleményekkel tudják, hogy egy évvel ezelőtt kaptunk hasonló ígéretet egy másik intézettől. Sajnos, a bank visszavonta Ígéretét. Ez a fejlemény visszavetett bennünket a várakozás állapotába. Várni az időt, amikor a reának bízottak gondozása kedvezőbb és az állami törvények által előirt körülmények között folytatódhat. Az eltelt időben nemcsak várakoztunk, hanem dolgoztunk. Amint visszatekintünk, megállapíthatjuk, hogy érdemes volt várni. A várakozás ideje alatt elkészült ugyanis egy terv, amely nemcsak hogy jóval gazdaságosabb, de a gondozás céljainak is megfelelőbb, más szóval, egy olcsóbb és alkalmasabb épület terve. Közben megtanultuk, hogy Istennek is voltak tervei, amelyeket nem ismertünk fel egy évvel ezelőtt. Azóta, vártunk az Úrra, és Benne bízva átdolgoztuk a mi tervünket az Ő számunkra készített terve hasonlatosságára.
