The Bethlen Home Messenger, 2002 (1-4. szám)

(Elptfrlatn's (Eurtter continued from previous page... for Him in the inn. Herod the king was not ready and neither were the Scribes and the Pharises, nor the rich and powerful. But there were a very few who were ready and who opened their hearts and their souls to Him. So today, as we look forward to Christmas, we remember the past and that first Christmas when Jesus came to a world that was part not ready at all. Before we turn to the present time, note one thing more. The first Christmas is not a story of men and women who finally found God. It is a story of God, who confronted men and women, who took them by surprise and who found them out. Our problem is that, ready or not, God has found us, and we can no longer hide in our pride. We must say, yes Lord I am here. This leads us from past tense to the present tense. In this Advent Season, we open our eyes to the Lord, who is even now breaking into this world, and who, at this very moment, is active in the history of this globe... And we know that this Lord who comes is only visible to eyes of faith. And according with the Gospel's words we can say: Blessed are those who believe that there will be a fulfillment of what has been spoken to them from the Lord. Blessed are those, who by the grace of God, are disposed to say with each new day: "Let it be to me according to Your word...". I say it to you again, Advent is a time of hope and anticipation. Let us strengthen our hope and be ready to receive our Lord Jesus Christ in this approaching Christmas... Amen. THANKSGIVING TABLE PRAYER We thank You, Lord, for harvest gifts Bestowed upon us here; We're thankful too for blessings sent Each day throughout the year. We're thankful for the Pilgrims Who braved the perilous sea That all may worship here today In this land of the free. For shelter warm and family ties, For loved ones far and near; We're thankful for each little child, So special and so dear. For daily bread in ample share We lift our thanks to Thee; Oh, may we share with those in need Wherever they may be. We're thankful for this food prepared, Each love one gathered here. We're thankful for Your presence Lord; You seem so very near.
