Csia WINTER SIGNS THE NEW YEAR Under the tents of cedar trees Are feathery tracks of chickadees, The blue jays stop their scolding now In splendor from a shaken bough. We look up through the brief designs That fall in whispers from the pines. Below are life's small signatures On this hushed beauty that endures And with the winter signs, we show Upon this unspoiled page of snow How surely in it we confide With our own footsteps, side by side. The New Year lies before us, white and clean: So many lovely days in which to live, So many hours to spend like silver coins, So many precious moments God will give For us to use in service and in love, In friendliness and sympathy, until Our lives may be like fountains, lifting up To sparkle in the sunlight and to spill In radiance and beauty all about, That other lives may catch the gleam and shine Of spraying fountains, lifting, filled with light, That will be your life, friend, that will be mine. KING AND QUEEN OF HEARTS' CONTEST A tradition that is held each February here at The Bethlen Home is the King and Queen of Hearts Contest among our residents. Three ladies and men will be chosen as nominees for the Contest. Winners will be determined by the votes received from staff, family and residents. A display of nominees will be posted on each floor. Be sure to stop by and cast your vote starting in February. Winners will be announced at the Valentine Party on February 14. The nominees will also be honored with a special luncheon during Valentine Week. O help us live so beautifully, God, This year of all the years, that we may be Like showers of blessings, falling on mankind, Bright fountains, lifting high and clear to Thee. eepeöt ê>pmpatf)p Our staff extends their deepest sympathy to the family and friends of the following former residents.
