Jfrom tíje ©esik of tíje abmímőtrator Hello, to the many residents, families and friends of the Bethlen Home. I welcome you to the New Year and to its many opportunities that will strengthen and renew our spirit. As with any year, we develop new friendships and experience the passing of others. During 2000, the Home has lost some very key employees to retirement. Most notably, Diane Walton and C.J. Miller. Combined they provided 36 years of service to the Bethlen Home. They will be greatly missed, and we wish them well in their future endeavors. Other long-term employees lost to retirement are Tom and Judy Minnick, Registered Nurses, Nancy Dull and Jean Bendorff and Activity Aide, Jean Sears. They too have contributed greatly to the overall success of the Home. In fact, Nancy continues to work part-time. The loss of any long-term employee while disheartening, summons our resolve to seek out new opportunities and direction. Keeping in mind our vision, health care services demanded by our clients and the cost of a new facility are some of the fascinating challenges that lay before us. Thus, how we structure the Home's operations becomes paramount. As attrition occurred, we realigned the affected departments creating new job opportunities. Personnel to fill these voids were sought externally and internally. The business office has three (3) new faces: Christine Kitz, Director of Finance, Debra Gehlman, Billing Specialist and Toni McCurdy, part-time receptionist. Internally, the Assistant Director (ADON), Sandy Midlo, filled the director of Nursing (DON) vacancy. Chari Horrell, has accepted the ADON position. Additionally, further realignments have occurred throughout the Nursing Management Department. In the very new future, the Home will have a new Social Services Director, as Pat Armel has accepted the new position of Marketing/Fund Raising Director. The building project continues to progress toward its final stage. All is going well, moving of the earth should begin in the late summer of 2001 with a 15-month construction schedule. The Home will provide you with information more frequently as we near construction. As always, my door is open so please stop by for a visit or to discuss a concern. Yours very truly, Mike Walker, NHA
