Miller, our former Director of Nursing, recently resigned at the end of the year. She and her husband Dave are planning a new home and relocating to Shellsburg, PA. Although we are very happy for C.J., she will be deeply missed by both residents and staff. She was a member of the Bethlen Home family since 1987 when she started working as a floor nurse and eventually became our Director of Nursing. The Bethlen Home honored C.J. at a luncheon at Ligonier Country Inn, where she was surprised to see her family and co-workers. Her co-workers presented her with a gift certificate to a local nursery, where she will be able to buy plants for her new home. She, however, has left the nursing office in good hands. The current Director of Nursing is Sandra Midlo who has been with the Bethlen Home since 1995. Sandy has worked both as a floor nurse and Assistant Director of Nursing before receiving her current position. The month of April is dedicated to the many people across the country who so willingly Volunteer their time to help others, whether it be in a soup kitchen, on the soccer field, in a hospital or at the Bethlen Home. Your time is greatly appreciated. Throughout the year, many Volunteers share their talents among our residents and Home. Their smiles, hugs, creativity and listening ears can never be replaced. You help to make the Bethlen Home what it is today. The Bethlen Home and Activity Department will be honoring their Volunteers on Thursday, April 19 during National Volunteer Recognition Week. This year's theme is "Busy as a Bee". This year's recipient for the "Volunteer of the Year" award will be given to a very special family. "Congratulations" to Pastor Randy Johns and his parents Bertha and John Johns for their many years of dedication in supplying spiritual needs to our residents through their monthly hymn sings and visits. "Congratulations" to all of you. The new Assistant Director of Nursing is Charrise Horrell who has been an employee of the home since 1985. Chari also started working as a floor nurse and has worked many years as our Special Services Nurse until her current position. Best of Luck to you both on your new positions.
