JVctífrit^ Dear Families and Friends of The Bethlen Home, It is my privilege to greet you in the name of our Lord for the first time! At its September meeting, the Board of Directors of The Bethlen Home elected me as The Bethlen Home's new Executive Director. I will begin my work full-time in the beginning of the new year. I am grateful to God for the opportunity to serve in this position, and work alongside our new Administrator, Mr. Michael Walker; it will be my commitment to continue the long standing tradition of providing excellent health care and quality of life for all residents of our campus. One of my responsibilities will be to oversee the spiritual care provided to our residents. During this Holiday Season, we will thank God for His gifts to us of life and of love. In sending to us His Son, Jesus, God affirms the importance of this life. Yes, Jesus does show us the way to new life and eventually to eternal life; but by sending our Savior into this life, God emphasizes the importance of the present. This life is meant to be valued as a gift from God, and we must make every effort to insure the high quality and dignity of the life given us. And so, the commitment at The Bethlen Home is to provide a good quality of life for those who choose to live here and for those who are placed here by their families. The gift of love is meant by God to be at the center of how this life is lived. Just as God loves us, so we are to love one another. Love is felt when we treat each other with respect and dignity. And so the commitment at The Bethlen Home is to care for our residents in sensitive and loving ways. This priority is shared by all who work here. As the year of 1999 draws rapidly to a close, we wish all our residents, their families, our supporters and the churches a blessed Thanksgiving, Advent and Christmas Season. Enjoy these days and this life, in thanksgiving to God and in love for each other. The new year will be an exciting one in the life of The Bethlen Home, and we look forward with anticipation! God be with you! Sincerely, Rev. Imre A. Bertalan A Bethlen Otthon Nagy Családjához És Minden Tagjához: Nagy kiváltságnak tekintem ezt az alkalmat, amikor először köszönthetlek kedves Mindnyájatokat. Ismeretes, hogy az Otthon igazgatótanácsának bizalma arra méltatott, hogy engem, mint igazgatólelkészt, az intézet vezetésére megválasszon. Hálás vagyok hogy ebben a minőségemben együtt munkálkodhatom Mr. Michael Walker adminisztrátorral. Minden igyekezetem arra irányúi, hogy az intézet eddigi működésére jellemző minőségi szolgálatot magam is munkáljam. Teljes időmmel az új év kezdetével lépek szolgálatba. Feladatkörömbe tartozik továbbá arról gondoskodni, hogy a lakókat érintő lelkigondozói szolgálat a múlthoz hasonlóan a jövőben is folytatódjék. Az előttünk levő ünnepi idő jó alkalom arra, hogv Istennek hálát adjunk magáért az életért és az O irántunk megmutatott szeretetéért. Azáltal, hogy érettünk, hozzánk elküldte az O Szent Fiát, Isten megmutatta, hogy Neki drága ez a mi földi életünk. Ugyanakkor Isten Jézus Krisztusban odaforditja figyelmünket a mennyei életre. És, mivel Istennek drága a te földi életed, minket arra indít, hogy az intézeten belül minden gondoskodás megtörténjék az életkörülmények minőségének biztosítása területén. Ezért a Bethlen Otthon elkötelezettséget érez aziránt, hogy minőségi életkörülményt nyújtson azok számára, akik otthonuknak Otthonunkat választották, vagy annak gondozására bízzák szeretteiket. A szeretet Isten ajándéka, egyben életünket irányitó parancsa. Ahogy Isten minket szeret, úgy kell nekünk is szeretni egymást. Ennek a szeretetnek meg kell mutatkoznia az emberekkel való együttélés minden területén. Ez teszi ezt az otthont Szeretet-otthonná. Századunk vége és az ÚjesztendŐ közeledtén kívánok a Bethlen Otthon nagy családja minden tagjának áldott hálaadásnapi, adventi és karácsonyi ünnepeket. Ünnepeljünk Isten iránti hálaadással és az emberek iránti szeretettel, jóakarattal. Legyen a közeledő év valóban új: Az Úrnak áldott esztendeje. Szeretettel, ßccfeß*_ — Bertalan A.
