^zíxbity pítgljítgíjis PUBLIC RELATION S BOOTH The Bethlen Home recently participated in the "Senior Day Fair" which was held in August at Richland Mall in Johnstown, PA. The fair was sponsored by WJAC-TV with a large number of participants in the health care field. The Bethlen Home's main goal was to target the Johnstown and surrounding areas and make them aware of the Home's location and what services we provide to the community. The Activity Department also encouraged visitors to sign up as Volunteers. Pat Armel, Social Service and Sherry Humbertson, Activity Director represented the home at the booth. The booth displayed a wide variety of information packets concerning admission to long term care and independent living, as well as Volunteer Information Packets. A display board was also designed by the Activity Department which featured photos of the Bethlen Home grounds and photos of Residents and Volunteers doing various activities such as crafts, cookouts, etc. throughout the year. The table also displayed several craft items that the Residents have been working on toward this year's bazaar. The fair had over 5,000 visitors throughout the day. VOLUNTEER WELCOME It's always nice to welcome young smiling faces to the Bethlen Home. That's just what we got when Courtney Little signed up to be a Volunteer. Courtney is a college student at Westmoreland County Community College and presently works for Latrobe Parks and Recreation, providing a number of services to entertain children at various playgrounds throughout the area. Courtney has a natural talent for working with crafts, so, right away, we assigned her to assist in ceramic classes with our Residents. Welcome once again Courtney! We enjoy having you here and appreciate your talent and hard work that you have already given to our Home and to our Residents. CLOTHING WAGON VISITS WITH FALL SELECTION Wardrobe Wagon will be visiting the facility on Thursday, September 19th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with their Fall and Winter selections. Regular clothing as well as specialized clothing will be available for purchase. This clothing company is a different group from the clothing line that we have in the Spring. We try to schedule different companies to help bring you a variety of different selections. The clothing wagon carries a wide range of items for both men and women. Now is the time to think of your holiday shopping, especially if specialized clothing is required. You have a much wider selection with these companies that specialize than your local or mall stores. Volunteers will also be available, as well as the Activity Staff, to assist or answer any questions that you may have concerning your loved one's clothing. We encourage the Residents and their families to come and shop. However, if you would like clothing purchased and are unable to attend, please contact Pat Armel or Sherry Humbertson, and we would be more than happy to make your purchases. The clothing company accepts cash, credit, checks or we can bill the family. Anyone having any questions, please feel free to contact Pat or Sherry during the work week. The staff extends their deepest sympathy to the family and friends of the following former Residents. Earl Baker Mary Kohuth Paula Jolsvai Esther Forsythe
