Invitations were sent out, and family responses exceeded forty guests, which was a good turnout for a week day. The Activity Department decorated the tables and made favors going with a tulip theme. Recently, one of our Volunteers, Tish Purdy, demonstrated dough art and had the Resident's make their own wreaths for their windows. Just seeing these Residents working with the dough brought back good memories of baking. You could tell by the way they were kneading and shaping they were old pro's. Some Residents even showed us some various techniques in working with the dough. A fun afternoon was had by all, and all of the Resident's wreath turned out beautiful with their own personal touch. Many "Thanks" to the families who participated and made a special day for their loved one. "Thanks" to the Dietary Department and Esther Berkey for their hard work in preparing the meal and added thanks to the many Volunteers for helping to serve our Guests and Residents. You helped to make it run smoothly, and a fun afternoon was had by all. The fella's were recently honored for Father's Day by having a "Men Only Week". This included various games throughout the week, along with a special luncheon served by the Activity Staff. The saying goes, "The best way to a man's heart is through his stomach". This held true for most of the guys. They enjoyed the chicken like there was no tomorrow. A favor was also given to each in the shape of a fish with their name painted on it. Later in the week one of our Volunteers brought in his antique car which helped the guys recall many good memories. Then, the afternoon was topped off with their favorite dessert, pie and ice cream. Many "Thanks" to Craig Robertson for cutting out the wood fish plaques and to Mario Battaglia for taking time out of his day to bring in his antique car for the fellas to enjoy. Thanks for making their Father's Day a memorable one. Again, "Many Thanks" Tish for all your help and hard work. The Volunteers and Activity Staff enjoyed it as much as the Residents. Thanks for sharing your talent with us. Pictured from left to right Resident Olga Szabo, Volunteer Beacie Mack and Resident Susan Wargo showing off their finished project.
