(Earner From the Desk of Pat Armel October 15, 1995 is "NATIONAL SHUT IN VISITATION DAY". When walking down the corridor to visit your loved one, you may experience a swirl of emotions. Probably sadness, because you miss your loved one and don’t like to see him or her in any discomfort. You may also feel awkardness about what to say or how to act. The following are some guidelines that may help the process: Bring cheer and leave your problems at home. Listen attentively without judgement. Help the Resident to cope with fear and anger. Affirm and reassure your loved one and help them through the pain. Encourage the Resident to be assertive. While you will certainly not be able to take away all the distress, discomfort or uncertainty, you will be able to provide a great gift....THE GIFT OF YOURSELF!!! 'JUST A REMINDER' The Family Council Group is scheduled to meet on September 7, 1995. Corena Stiffler, L.P.N. will speak on Restorative Nursing Care. On November 9, 1995, we will again meet. At our last meeting we had a LOW attendance. All family members are welcome, so please plan to attend. The Bethlen Home has two vacant cottages in the Retirement Village. Parties interested should contact the Administration Office - (412) 238-6711. At this time, we would like to welcome once more the newest Cottage residents: Mr. and Mrs. Bela Toth who came to live in Ligonier from Washington, D.C. God Bless them in their new home! We wish them much happiness in their new country life. We hope they will be very happy in The Bethlen Home. Saturday, November 4th and Sunday, November 5th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. both days. Proceeds benefit the Resident Activity Fund. The funds help to provide quality entertainment and programming throughout the year for the residents. This year's Bazaar theme is "AN OLD FASHIONED COUNTRY CHRISTMAS". Many of the volunteers and residents have already started to prepare for this worthwhile cause. Among items to be featured are a wide selection of baked goods, homemade candies, woodwork, Tole painted items, dolls, Christmas and Thanksgiving crafts, baby items, door prizes, raffles and an outdoor Flea Market to name a few. Hot lunches will also be available throughout the day. Due to the work stoppage last fall we were unable to hold our Fall Bazaar Fundraiser. This had put a strain on the Activity Budget for special programs and the residents Christmas gifts were limited. In order for our Bazaar to be a success, we need your support through donations of flea market items, baked goods, crafts, etc. Cash donations are also welcomed. Make checks payable to the Bethlen Home Activity Fund. Please contact Bobbi or Sherry for further information. We appreciate everyone's hard work and support that you have given in previous years and we hope you will continue to do so. We will be looking forward to seeing you at our Bazaar!!!!
