Christmas is a time for memories, of sharing with others, and being with our families and friends. It’s a time when we carry on family traditions. For a brief time, we can retreat into the past. Do you remember the sights, sounds, and smells of Christmas? Do you remember going to candlelight service on Christmas Eve, and going caroling at the homes of the ill and elderly? Do you remember the fresh smell of pine when you brought the Christmas tree into your house, and how beautiful it looked when it was all decorated? Remember coming in from the cold, and as the warm air hit your face, you smelled freshly baked cookies? What one food reminds you most of Christmas? Did you rememberthe good feeling you got from helping someone less fortunate? Life is very hectic, especially at Christmas, as we try to find time to do all those extra things. We need to remember the real meaning of Christmas, and enjoy the feelings of Christmas. We wish you a Merry Christmas!! ^Message from tfjo JVfonimgtrator by Rev. Paul Kovács Some thoughts for this Advent Season: “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, and patience . . (Colossians 3:12) “Winter Wonderland” is the scene of every Advent season. It is a lovely scene, like a beautiful Christmas card. Our Activity Department, with our Volunteers, spent days in decorating our nursing home to convert it into a Christmas card winter scene. All of our employees of each department gave much thought to the gowns and suits which they would put on at this season to radiate the festive occasion of Christ’s coming. We appreciate and we need this creative spirit very much. But, what a contrast between our Christmas preparations and the garb which the Apostle Paul urges “God’s chosen ones” to put on! In his list we find: “compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness and patience”. As we prepare for the sacred events of this season, the Apostle reminds us that “compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, and patience” are not dressy garments or decorations to put on for a brief holiday. The apparel of the “holy and beloved” of God enables us and compels us to reach out to the poor, the lonely, the ill, the less fortunate, and others oppressed in any way, among those we serve, and among our family members, our neighbors, and beyond it. Let us decorate ourselves at this season with these apparels. During this season of Advent, may we all feel as “His beloved” more deeply His love and peace. And may our beings radiate His love to all those who touch our lives. In this spirit, to all of you who prepare their hearts of His coming, I wish that this Christmas and the coming year may be bright with gladness, blessed with health, warm with friendliness, and filled with happiness for you and yours.
