Cfjrtetmas $ûems anír Stories The Legend Of The Holly The news of Christ's birth soon spread throughout the land. King Herod had heard of the glorious event and, feeling threatened by this new King of Kings, had sent his soldiers in pursuit of him. Joseph gathered together his little family and fled from Bethlehem. As they were traveling down an old dirt road, Mary heard the sound of soldiers behind them. Knowing that they would be searching for a man and a woman with child, she decided to hide the babe until the soldiers had passed. Mary felt her heart sink within her. There was nothing near by but a bare little holly bush. Every second the soldiers drew nearer and nearer. In desperation, she placed the child beneath the bush and prayed. But than a wondrous thing happened. The little plant burst forth with a crown of glistening, thorny leaves. The spikey leaves formed a roof over the baby, hiding him completely. When the soldiers rode by, they saw only a couple who appeared to be childless and continued on their way, leaving the Christ Child in safety and peace. It was then that the Babe blessed the holly so that it would always remain green, a symbol of hope and immortality to all. The berries the holly bore would always be blood red. For all the plants that grow, the holly alone, for one brief moment, had held the Christ Child in its heart. As we prepare for the upcoming holiday season, I'm sure everyone will take a moment to recall some special memories of their families and their childhood. Listed below are several heart warming poems and stories I hope you will enjoy. The Way To See Christmas The way to see Christmas is through a child's eyes, As he opens with rapture some hidden surprise; As he looks at the tree with its lights blue and gold: As he climbs on your lap, knowing arms will enfold. Someone plays Christmas carols, you listen, you rock' Save the music, no sound but the tick tock of the clock. In spite of your worries, in spite of your grief, 'Tis the child and his wonder, his trusting belief. Renewing your faith of the Child long ago reflected in your child, God's gift to bestow. Rock away, rock away, loveliness keep of the child, on your shoulder fallen asleep. So the way to see Christmas if you would be wise is to share it with children, see joy in their eyes! For the world is a weary world, troubles increase; but the child who is loved....it is he who has peace. The Bells Of Christmas I hear the bells this Christmas mom A ringing o'er the won; They fill our hearts with Christmas joy As snowflakes whirl around. Christmas carols on the air Proclaiming to the earth, "Rejoice this day that Christ was bom. Oh, wondrous Saviour's birth!" I hear the bells this Christmas mom Sing out the sweet refrain, "Lift up your voice, let hearts rejoice, It's Christmastime again."
