A special celebration was held during the afternoon by her family. Many of the staff and residents stopped by to share their respect and birthday wishes. Birthday girl Elloda Mack receives a special hug from resident Olga Szabo. September by Harmony Schupp Golden is September’s sun, And purple is the haze Veiling distant horizons These glorious autumn days. Purple are the clustered grapes, And gold the Barlett pear. Golden is the new fall dress The maple tree will wear. Golden is the hickory grove Down by the Woodsy lane. Purple are the high-piled clouds That indicate a rain. Purple are the asters wild That by the millstream nod. Golden are the butterflies, Marigolds and goldenrod. Purple are alfalfa blooms; Last cutting time is nigh. Golden is the ripening com, And gold is pumpkin pie. Gold and purple, queens adom, And monarchs call their due. September flaunts these gaudy hues, For she is royal, too. "But worst of all," said the boy, "It seems grown ups don't pay attention to me." And he felt the warmth of a wrinkled old hand. "I know what you mean," said the little old man.
