PIE EATING CONTEST SctiWtp 3f)igbliijllt£ EASTER BUNNIES AT WORK During the month of March many of the residents helped to prepare for the Spring Craft Show as well as Easter. One of the many projects residents worked on was candymaking for the Spring Craft Show. Residents worked at making twenty pounds of chocolate into a variety of lollipops, bunnies, etc. Many of the residents have never worked with molds and candy. It was a fun experience for all. Besides, you know everyone enjoyed sampling the merchandise. Pictured above are residents preparing Easter candy and coloring eggs. FOGS AND MORE Easter wouldn’t be the same without carrying out certain traditions such as egg coloring. Residents colored over twenty five dozen eggs that would be used in the making of the Bethlen Home's traditional Easter breads. February is known for being National Pie Month. What better way to celebrate than to have a pie eating contest! Each resident partaking in the activity was given a small five inch creamy, sticky, pie. The residents then had to eat the pie with their hands. Needless to say our residents ended up pretty sticky themselves. Everyone seemed to enjoy the fun. Our first place winner was resident Helen Paul. Ella Foresburg placed second with Alma Edie Woods placing third. Winners received various prizes according to their placement. Resident Frances Carnes thinks the pies were finger licking good! Former resident Ella Foresburg was caught with her mouth open. Ella placed second UKRANIAN EGG ART A special demonstration was given during the Easter holiday season of the creation of Ukranian Egg Art. Residents enjoyed watching the various techniques and learning about the meanings of the different symbols used in the making of these special eggs. The demonstrator brought a wide variety of eggs for display. The eggs varied in sizes from miniature to ostrich size eggs. Door prizes of three special eggs were given to residents Ebert Porterfield, Sophia Toth and Helen Paul. Third place winner, Alma Edie Woods gets a good start on munching down that pie.
