God Bless Her! Student Aid Recipient: Nicholas Zapadka Member of Branch 151 \ \ \ 1 will be graduating in December of 2010 from Allegheny College in eternally snowy Meadville, PA. Though I will rarely miss the time spent shoveling my vehicle out of frozen parking lots, I will always remember fondly my four years as an undergraduate student. This time spent at study was the definite beginning of my adult life, the formative years that shaped me not only into a competent and knowledgeable young adult, but also into one who recognizes the value of applying one’s talents and gifts to their fullest, and doing so in a way that can bring positive change in a world so desperately in need. With undergraduate degrees in History and Business Administration serving as my foundation, I plan to earn a Master’s degree and later a PhD in education from the University of Pittsburgh, and to secure a job as a school superintendent after spending time working at the high school instructional and administrative levels. In my free time, I try to remain as active as possible by playing tennis, running, and weight lifting. I played tennis at the college level and have been teaching it to both young and old for three years at a local country club. My activities at Allegheny include working as an audio-visual technician, volunteering as a “Peer Leader” to assist incoming freshman classes, tutoring students at the local Meadville High School, and serving as the Chairman of Scholarship of a social fraternity. I am a member of Saint Rose of Lima Parish where I have served as a lector and an altar server. When not eagerly involved in any of these activities, I am usually spending time with my close family and friends whom I love and appreciate dearly. Blayne C. Berry Branch 134 I would like to thank the Reformed Federation of America and especially my mentor, Joe Fabri for consider ing me for such a generous scholarship. I had the pleasure of meeting and observing Mr. Fabri when I was an 8th grade student playing for the Blackhawk Middle School soccer team. Mr. Fabri'graciously' volunteered his time that year, serving as our head coach. Though it was obvio that he had a great many years on us, Ive were astounded that none of us could e match him in a “push up” routine. The simply could not be stopped! The memory of this middle-aged man consistently in better shape than the entirety of our teenage roster is something that we still reminisce about and inspires me to this day. As a young adult on the brink of college graduation, individuals like Mr. Fabri serve as the essential role models who continue to shape my existence for the better, and for these people, I am eternally thankful and blessed.
