L A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Each year during the spring, HRFA conducts its District meetings. The dates and places of these meetings are below. The purpose of these district meetings are twofold: first, the members can meet those Directors who represent them on HRFA’s Board, and secondly, the members can obtain information about the financial and fraternal affairs of the Federation. These meetings are also an opportunity to train branch managers about HRFA’s products. It is no secret that the better trained the branch managers, the more revenue they will generate for the Federation to better serve its members. Recently, HRFA together with the National Fraternal Congress signed an agreement with Marsh Consumer Connections, the world’s leading insurance broker, to offer several insurance products to meet the needs of HRFA members. These insurance products include: 1. Long-Term Care: With this product, HRFA members will be able to obtain quotes from several top-rated insurance carriers to find the best rates and coverage for their personal situations. 2. Dental Insurance: Many medical experts believe that preventive dental care is a significant factor in maintaining good overall health; however, many HRFA members lack dental coverage. Through this program, HRFA members will be able to access affordable dental care. 3. Medicare Supplement: As good as Medicare is, it does not cover everything. As you know, there are often gaps when it comes to care, including home health care. Access to an affordable Medicare Supplement is a valuable option to many of our HRFA members. In addition to the above new insurance products, HRFA offers retirement security to those members who purchase HRFA annuities. This last one, annuity income, is often overlooked. For those HRFA members who do not have substantial money available from the other sources, annuity income can be especially useful. HRFA generates principal and pays interest on all amounts invested. Currently, HRFA pays 4.5% interest for the first year with a minimum guarantee of 3.5% thereafter. This program is only available to HRFA members. The HRFA member gets a tax break in that the money in the annuity account will accumulate with interest, but nothing is taxed until it is taken out. When HRFA members reach age 65, there are basically two choices: take a full cash settlement (there are no surrender charges) or choose a payout plan where the “pension” is paid monthly. In order to learn more about what HRFA offers to its members, please attend one of the District meetings close to your home. Enjoy our fraternal fellowship and remember, lunch is served free of charge. HRFA reimburses you for mileage and tolls. I look forward to seeing you at our District meetings. Fraternally, Leslie László Megyeri FRATERNITY - TESTVÉRISÉG 3
