Marge Nicholas, Branch Manager and Fraternal Coordinator BRANCH 300 WASHINGTON, DC This year, the Chesapeake Fraternal Congress (CFC) at its 101st annual meeting had a joint meeting with the Chesapeake Fraternal Insurance Counselors on October 9 - 12, 2008 at the Fontainebleau Clarion Hotel in Ocean City, Maryland. Out of the eleven societies registered with CFC, five societies sent representatives and two societies sent donations. CFC Officers Frank Kapitan, President, and Kati Levay- Nagy, Vice-President, represented HRFA Branch 300. The CFC allows grassroots members to come together to participate in community service projects, hold educational and leadership conferences, and make a difference in our community. This year CFC’s community service project was in support of Diakonia, an organization providing emergency and transitional housing service to men, women and families in Ocean City, Maryland. During the two-day meeting, besides the service project, there were continuing education seminars and fraternal presentations. Congratulations to HRFA Branch 300 members Frank Kapitan and Kati Levay-Nagy as they were installed as Vice-Presidents of the CFC.
