President’s Corner HRFA undertook many wonderful activities this spring and over the past year that have brought us brand recognition as an organization that cares about our communities and that is the primary supporter of Hungarian heritage in the U.S. At my first Board Meeting over a year ago I set the first HRFA goal as re-establishing our brand equity. I mentioned that it was not possible to grow HRFA without this. Through the efforts of a few good people, we have successfully started this phase of our renewal. The fraternal activities that led to this recognition also provided the contacts and impetus for new sales. We are now in the excellent position of the teams in two states vying for leadership in HRFA sales: Pennsylvania and Florida. Our Pennsylvania success is well known, as Joe and Peggy Fabri and family have provided the leadership that has made them number one. Our Florida success was primarily due to the efforts of our National Fraternal Coordinator, Judit Zambo, who successfully networked with both Hungarian and American organizations throughout Florida to give HRFA recognition, and who recruited and helped train five new agents and finders. She also became the number two sales person at HRFA, despite this not being her job. My special thanks to these leaders and to Joe and Maria Kovács, to Bill and Marge Nicholas, to Michael and Margaret Pauli and to all the fraternal coordinators. My plea to the other states: please become active in sales or recruit others who are willing and able to help HRFA survive in a tough competitive world. Our competitive advantage is our fratemalism, our support of our American and Hungarian-American communities, and the service we provide to our customers. Our branch managers and agents are our members’ primary contacts, and we have high expectations for our young new recruits. They understand the financial and cultural needs of the changed world we live in, and will provide this expertise to you, the members, so that you will understand your financial options and so that your future will be secure. As you read some of the exciting activities we undertook this spring, think about how you might contribute to growing HRFA and keeping our Hungarian heritage alive. As you know, our HRFA membership, board and leaders are aging, so please send me your recommendations for new branch managers and agents so that we have people to lead HRFA in the future. March 15, 2007 HRFA Kossuth House. Fraternally yours, Jules G. Balogh, President March 15, 2007, Kossuth Bust in the U.S. Capitol on the first level below the Rotunda.
