The President's Corner THANKSGIVING is THE American holiday, and all of us at HRFA hope that you had a wonderful time with your family and friends. In the spirit of this great American occasion, I would like to dedicate this issue to give thanks to the Lord for those who gave their lives for freedom for Hungarians and to overthrow communism. Specifically in this issue we describe the commemorations and touching stories about the 1956 Hungarian Revolution against Soviet occupation and communist tyranny, and the Washington DC Memorial for Victims of Communism, as well as talk about the sad current events in Hungary. I would also like to give my personal thanks to a wonderful mentor who was instrumental in my coming to and remaining at HRFA. Rather than speak about him myself, the reprint (next page) of his award for service to Hungary, both before and after the communist era, speaks volumes about giving back selflessly to your country and to your church. In this issue we also highlight some wonderful activities and cultural sponsorships which we have begun and which have brought strong brand recognition to HRFA as a leading Hungarian American business and fraternal organization that provides support to our Hungarian heritage. HRFA 1956 Hungarian Revolution Commemoration Designed by Adam Szíjártó and Judit Szilasi The Hungarian Reformed Federation of America, chartered by the United States Congress, celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the heroes of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution against the communists and Soviets at the HRFA Kossuth House, its home office, October 2006.
