Fraternity- Testvériség Page 7 playing or coaching sports, attending picnics, visiting elders at the Bethlen Home, asking businesses to contribute awards to teens and golfers, we’re visible, we’re engaged, we’re serving the community and we’re meeting possible clients who will like us first as people, see our Board members in action, and become HRFA members. When we’ve made a sale, we get an adrenaline rush, the client knows he’s purchased a good product, and HRFA benefits as well. Now that I’ve moved to the Chairmanship of HRFA, I can bring all my ‘people’ skills into play and lead this company forward to even greater heights.” Jim’s messianic philosophy is contagious. One can’t help but be mesmerized by his message. He conveys a sense of enthusiasm; he wants staff and employees to enjoy what they do, to exude a sense of passion, to operate under the assumption that the “glass is half full," to encourage this fraternal to become better every day in some small noticeable way because Jim feels that nothing contributes to success like executing a sales plan and making it work. Jim knows that sales is the lifeline of a fraternal’s organization, and he’s attempting to shape HRFA in new ways to better meet the customers’ needs. One part of his plan is to lead the organization in cultural and social activities that will serve as models for other fraternals. He believes that everyone has something to contribute, but from his own personal interest in sports, he appreciates the value of injecting good competitive spirit in an organization so he will help outstanding salespeople celebrate their successes and aim for still more excellence. He also appreciates the importance of interacting with other fraternal societies and learning from them since they all face the same problems so he will avidly attend The National Fraternal Congress’ events. Because of Jim’s work with sports team management, he knows the importance of reaching out to the client community through the youth who need to first identify with an organization, establish themselves as leaders and then be brought up to management level. Thus, HRFA is experimenting this summer with some college-aged sales staff. Through a mentoring program with experienced agents, these young people will bring a new vitality and outlook to HRFA. Thus, Jim’s leadership style will differ from the past Chairman’s. He wants participatory management, but he will not micro-manage the home office. “Instead,” he says, “I’ll be hands-on and involved in setting goals, making time frames, and evaluating priorities. I’m not one to look over people’s shoulders and criticize them to point out failures. Instead, I'll be visible in the field in training and sales efforts, and I’ll try to develop a success oriented mind frame. Then, I’ll monitor the programs as we develop our successes. We’re going to try new avenues, and if some don’t work, we’ll get rid of them, but we’ve got to be bold and try new things that haven’t been done before. I don’t want to hear, ‘That’s not how we did it in the old days.’ Those ‘old days’ are over.” HRFA part-time or full-time sales agents needed!!! HRFA is a successful Fraternal Life Insurance company.
