Page 5 Fraternity-Testvériség Home Office News HRFA welcomes Noemi Toka, our latest addition to the Treasurer ’s Department, who is taking over Silvia Fedor ’s job. I was bom and raised in Miskolc, Hungary. After graduation from the Herman Otto High School, I moved to Budapest to work and study. I was a professional Hungarian folk dancer, but after an injury I had to leave the ensemble, so I moved back to Miskolc. There I became an insurance agent for the AB-AEGON Insurance Company. However, driven by some inner force I had always wanted to go back to Budapest, so when the opportunity came, I left Miskolc and moved up to the capital. I was working there for 4 years in a software development company as the only administrative employee. Then I had a great opportunity to come to the United States. I arrived on September 29, 2001. I started learning English, went to a community college, got an Associate Degree and continued my studies at the George Mason University in the spring of 2006.1 had been working at the US Patent and Trademark Office as an office manager the year before. I started at HRFA in March of 2006 as a part time accountant. 1 chose the organization because I just loved the opportunity to work in an environment where the goals are to maintain the Hungarian spirit, culture, tradition, as well as to improve and develop a stronger community among Hungarians and other Hungarian organizations, to provide financial support with special attention and care towards those who need it. Since I am a life-long folk dancer, being a Hungarian is very important to me, and I see it as a great uniqueness that needs to be shared and maintained. ♦ ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦ HRFA welcomes Judit Szilasi to the President ’s Department. My name is Judit Szilasi. I started working for the HRFA in May 2006 as a part-time administrative assistant. It is a great opportunity for me to work in a bilingual environment and contribute to the welfare of the Hungarian-American community. I grew up in Budapest, Hungary, in a family of teachers and I graduated from the Eötvös Loránd University as a Hungarian and French teacher. I was working at a high school in Budapest until my husband who is a university professor was given the chance to come here, and work for the N1H as a geneticist. We have been living in the US since the end of 2005 and we are very grateful for the opportunity to learn about this part of the world. ♦ ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦ HRFA welcomes Adam Szíjártó to HRFA for the Summer. Adam Szijarto was born in 1979 in Budapest. In 1990 his family moved to Switzerland, where he soon will finish his studies at the University of Berne. The future teacher of history, sports, mathematics and English wants to improve his language skills, this is the reason why he is spending his summer in the Washington DC area, while doing an internship at the HRFA’s Kossuth House through the Hungarian scout organization. Adam is deeply anchored in the Hungarian social life beyond the borders: He is the leader of the Hungarian Boy Scouts of Berne and the western Switzerland area. ♦ ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦ HRFA ’s Youth at work. Our youth are providing HRFA with fresh new ideas for our marketing department. In this picture they were specially serious working on an advertisement.
