Táncház Series Continues at the HRFA Kossuth House in 2007 from the teachers from the Tisza Ensemble fills the room and the hearts of people and makes them keep coming back for more. The Tisza Ensemble has been teaching and performing Hungarian folk dances for more than 24 years. The leaders of Tisza - Cathy Lamont and Rudy Petke - teach in the 'táncház' improvisational style they learned while living in Hungary. They were invited to be judges at the 2005 North American "Pontozó," an international Hungarian folk dance competition that took place in New York. After a great start in 2006, with 3 very successful Hungarian Táncház - (dance parties) held in the Home Office (HRFA - Kossuth House), we picked up our dance shoes again on January 27, 2007. The great teachers of the Tisza Ensemble continued teaching dances from various areas of Hungary and Transylvania. The group of twenty people, many of whom are returning guests of the event and the Kossuth House, learned new steps from the regions of Szatmár, Somogy, Sárköz, Dunántúl, Mezőseg and Kalotaszeg. The incredible popularity of these events can be attributed to our luck in having live music from talented native musicians from Mezőség, Transylvania, as well as other musicians who fell in love with the beautiful Hungarian melodies and learned to play them. It was a very moving night for all participants - teachers, musicians and dancers. The dedication to the Hungarian culture and dances The Táncház series will continue in the Home Office, Kossuth House. The projected dates for the events are March 31st, April 28th and May 19tn. Please come and join us in the breathtaking steps and sounds! For more information contact Noémi Toka at noemitoka@yahoo.com. Fraternity - Testvériség Page 19
